A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

Dear eighth grade and high school students, families and staff,

I want to share a quick update with you regarding the High School Advisory Task Force.

I am pleased to announce that I fully endorse and support the task force’s recommendation, which proposes changing advisory to a longer class offered only twice per week. Currently high school students attend advisory for 25 minutes every day.

Within the recommendation you will see two draft bell schedule concepts. Please keep in mind that the final schedules have not been developed; we have a team working on refining our high school schedule. This team includes leaders from each high school, which is important because our high school schedule for our comprehensive schools is aligned across our district. These schedule changes would be made next school year.

If you have feedback to share, feel free to reach out to your principal. We hope to share an update on the bell schedule later this spring.

I also want to express my gratitude to those who served on the task force, participated in the surveys and/or gave feedback in other ways. It was evident that the task force led a thorough and thoughtful process. I want to give a special thanks to our students who served on the task force.
