Dear golfers and families,

Day 2 of the District 1 golf tournament will continue as scheduled this afternoon at Lake Padden Golf Course. Bellingham Police Department has advised to continue the tournament as scheduled.

As you likely know, on Monday, May 15 during the final portion of the tournament, apparent weapons fire occurred in the area near Lake Padden. The area was evacuated under the guidance of law enforcement.

Law enforcement reopened access to Lake Padden Tuesday morning, May 16, per statements made by Bellingham Police Department.

We thank all of our players, families, spectators and coaches for their quick cooperation with law enforcement which allowed them to secure the park and do their jobs.

We look forward to continuing the golf tournament this afternoon. We are monitoring the situation in close communication with law enforcement partners. If anything changes with the tournament, we will communicate as quickly as possible with families, coaches and players.
