Ready to lace up some skates and hit the ice at the Sportsplex? Or how about trying out soccer bowling or dribbling relays on the indoor field? Or does booting a penalty kick past school principals into the goal sound like a blast?

Bellingham Public Schools invites you to the districtwide Winter Blast from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Sportsplex. All BPS families are invited!

The evening includes free ice skating on the ice rink and a variety of games on the Sportsplex fields, as well as a bouncy house for kids 10 and under. There will also be a chance to get into inflated bubble balls, also known as hamster balls or bubble soccer, for kids ages 11 and up. In between all the activities, enjoy a free dinner of hot dogs, pizza slices and hot cocoa.

In addition to the skating and field activities, more than 20 community partners will be in attendance sharing information about 2024 summer camps, public library activities, afterschool clubs and other local resources. By visiting a few tables during the evening, families will be put into a raffle for a variety of gift cards and prizes. The grand prize is a 55-inch TV!

And if that wasn’t enough, entertainment throughout the evening includes visits by the Squalicum High School drumline and dance teams from Bellingham and Sehome high schools. The Bellingham Blazers hockey team will also be in attendance to help kids get on the ice and high school athletes and Bellingham United FC will be assisting with the field games.
