A Message from Communications and Community Relations

Dear kindergarten and Promise kindergarten families,

We want to let you know that there is an update regarding the first day of school for kindergarten and Promise K. The Family Handbook and our back-to-school messaging have been updated online, but the dates in the printed 2023-24 handbook are incorrect. We ask that you take note of the following corrected information below:

• The first day of kindergarten and Promise kindergarten is now Tuesday, Sept. 5. This is a regular school day, and kindergarten and Promise K students will follow the usual elementary schedule: 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (There will not be any half days to start the school year for kindergarten or Promise K.)
• The first day of preschool remains Wednesday, Sept. 6.
• The first day of school for grades 1-12 is still Thursday, Aug. 31.

Kindergarten and Promise K teachers will be using Thursday, Aug. 31 and Friday, Sept. 1 to meet with families and students. You can expect to hear from your child’s school soon to make an appointment.

We encourage all eligible kindergarten and Promise K bus riders to take the school bus home on their first days to learn how.First day for kindergarten and Promise K updated
