A Message from Superintendent Greg Baker

Dear Bellingham Family Partnership Program staff and families,

Thank you to those who reached out over the holiday weekend in response to our message Nov. 22; I heard from so many of you who shared touching stories about the importance of the BFPP and how it has positively affected you, your family and/or your children.

I appreciate how thoughtful many of you were, and I know how vested our community is in this great program. I was thrilled when we opened the doors to BFPP in 2015, and I want each of you to know I am committed to this program and serving families and students into the future.

The feedback we received centered on these two requests: 1) please keep our students, families and staff together under one roof, and 2) even though our current building is tired and old, we love it and want the district to keep trying to find solutions if there is any way we can stay put.

We are working with some outside consultants and additional thought partners to help us better assess both short-term and long-term solutions.

We will continue to analyze all options, looking at this from every angle, including what it would take to stay here short and/or long-term. We want to find solutions that folks are excited about.

Some of you may have seen our diesel generator/heat today. While likely not a long-term solution, it certainly helped warm up our facility this afternoon.

We will continue to share updates and, in the meantime, please feel free to reach out with additional questions or thoughts. Kate also wants me to remind you to stop by and see her any time to share your thoughts or ask questions.

I’m tempted to sign off with “warmly,” but maybe I will just stick with the gratitude theme. 😊
