A Message from Communications and Community Relations

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! The first day of school for grades 1 to 12 is Thursday, Aug. 31 and is a full day. The bell schedule is as follows: elementary schools begin at 8 a.m. and are dismissed at 2:30 p.m.; middle schools begin at 9:15 a.m. and are dismissed at 3:45 p.m.; and high schools begin at 8:30 a.m. and are dismissed at 3:15 p.m.

The first day for kindergarten and Promise K is Tuesday, Sept. 5 and will be a full day on the elementary schedule above. (This date was updated in early August and is different from the printed 2023-24 Family Handbook and Calendar.)

The first day for preschool is Wednesday, Sept. 6 and is a full day.

Note: All schools and district offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 4 for the Labor Day holiday.

Early dismissal schedule

The first elementary early dismissal is on Thursday, Sept. 7 and students are dismissed at 12:20 p.m. Elementary early dismissals take place every Thursday throughout the school year.

The first all school early dismissal is on Thursday, Sept. 14 and schools are released at the following times:  elementary schools at 12:20 p.m. (as usual), middle schools at 1:15 p.m. and high schools at 2 p.m. Check our online calendar for the early dismissal schedule in 2023-24. Early dismissals are also marked in the printed Family Handbook and Calendar mailed to all families earlier in August.
