A Message from Wade King Principal Courtney Ross Webb
Dear Wade King families,
We understand that families may have questions and concerns about a lawsuit recently filed against Bellingham Public Schools alleging sexual misconduct by a Wade King student during the 2022-23 school year.
I know this is deeply upsetting, and I understand if you are feeling confused and concerned.
I am sorry that I’m not able to share more detailed information with you and answer your questions. It can be unsatisfying and frustrating when we want the information to help us make sense of things, and it is important that we respect the legal process and our commitment to the confidentiality of information regarding minors. I’m truly sorry I can’t provide more clarification at this time.
We can share that the student alleged to have engaged in sexual misconduct referenced in the lawsuit did not attend Wade King during the last 2023-24 school year and does not currently attend a school within our district.
We know sexual misconduct has absolutely no place in our classrooms, schools, and community; we take steps to address such behavior if it occurs.
We recognize that topics such as child abuse and sexual misconduct are sensitive and serious. We encourage addressing these topics with your child as appropriate for your family.
For information about how to report concerning incidents and how Bellingham Public Schools responds to issues of alleged child abuse and sexual misconduct, please see the policies and procedures below or feel free to reach out to me with questions.
