Meal balance notifications to begin Wednesday, Sept. 16; how to view your meal account balance

A Message from Food Services

If your child’s meal account includes a negative balance over $5 you will receive a weekly reminder on Wednesdays. Notifications begin Sept. 16.

You can review your meal account balance in Skyward Family Access. To deposit funds, please visit the Online Payments webpage and follow the directions to the payment portal. You may also pay with cash or check in all school cafeterias.

According to the district's meal charge policy and procedure 6700, households that are certified for free or reduced-price school meals at any point later in the school year will not be required to repay school meal debt accrued earlier in that school year.

If you believe your family qualifies for meal benefits, please visit the Food Services webpage for instructions on how to apply.

With qualification, we may be able to assist with eliminating your school meal debt. Students at Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and Meals for Washington Students (MWS) schools automatically qualify for one breakfast and one lunch daily at no cost. Meal debt may pertain to second meal charges or previous debt accrued while attending standard-pricing schools.

Please reach out by email at bps.mealpayments@bellinghamschools.org  or by phone at 360-676-6540 to help answer your questions and resolve meal debt. Thank you.
